Mid-Terms

I actually only have one mid-term thus far and it’s in Genetics. And it’s going to be tough. I’m sure I’ll have one in another class somewhere along the line, it just didn’t happen this week.

This semester has been extremely busy for me. And I’m even in a play for the first time ever! Well, first time ever being in a play willingly that is…

Graduation is in May — looks like commencement is going to be awesome!

I’m currently looking for a job for after I graduate.  I’ve sent out my resume to a ton of zoos and a few other facilities around the country, but honestly, I love it here in Maine. I am hoping to get a job at the Maine State Aquarium… even though it’s only a temp. position, it could lead to more very easily. Yeah, and it’s not a huge aquarium either… it’s just a small education center on the coast of Maine.

Anyways, I have a cold that’s trying to take over my brain, so this post is going to end now.

Thanks for tuning in!

Full SPRING Ahead!

Yeah, corny title, I know… but so true. Spring semester is upon us and in full swing!!! My classes for this semester are great and include: ichthyology, genetics, and enrichment and exhibit design!! It’s going to be interesting… then I graduate in May! Yay!

There is a fresh blanket of snow on the ground which makes the campus beautiful, but  a little difficult for walking. Great snowmen snow though!

Also, tonight is the club fair (community carnival) where all the clubs on campus strut their stuff and gain new members!!!

November Already

Well, it’s November already!!! Halloween was a blast and the halloween dance party rocked the socks off halloween! It’s always fun when the whole campus dresses up… when you’re in college you get to be a kid again!

But alas, now it’s back to homework and studying. College isn’t all fun and games unfortunetly, and not to mention that it’s almost the end of the semester and finals are peaking around the corner.

Thank you all for your comments and questions! It’s good to know that people are reading this! If you want to put a question on here then I’ll answer it, but also my e-mail is posted up yonder on the side bars if you would rather e-mail me. :)

The semester got a hold of me

Hi everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since my last post. I guess the semester got a hold of me. Things have been going really well, just super busy!! There’s plenty of things to do here!

Currently, I am involved with Campus Crusade which is a Christian group on campus. We are doing a walking/portable bake sale to raise money towards going to a conference in Boston in January.

Classes are going great! Mid Semester grades just came out this week and they’re looking good for me. :)

I’m also in the middle of looking for a job for after graduation. One has to start early or all the awesome zoo jobs will be taken!

It’s starting to get cold here on campus… people have gotten out their winter coats and vests. All the leaves are on the ground and the sky often threatens the first snow storm.

All is well here at Unity. I’ll try to update more often. Remember you can e-mail me any questions you have!

We’re Back!!!

So, school has started back up again for the year and is in full gear!! The Student Activities Center (SAC) has started in with evening activities such as karaoke, the cafeteria has extended it’s hours at the request of the students, and the clubs are starting up with their first meetings already!

The first day of classes is generally just ‘syllabus day’ where the teachers go over the class syllabus and let the students know what are expected for the day. Then the fun begins!!!

I’m taking four classes this semester and am excited about all of them: Interpretive Methods, Animal Health, Psychology, and Animal Training!

Remember, this is a place for you to post questions and comments and you can also e-mail me if you’d rather ask on e-mail!!

One and a half weeks left…

So, there is one and a half weeks left of classes (last day of them being May 1), then three days set aside for finals… and then I’m FREEEEEEE for the summer!!! I pretty much can’t wait for the end to come… and it seems to be coming slowly, of course. But at the same time, the semester passed by so fast that I could have sworn the first day of the semester was last week.

But I’m pretty excited to be able to start my internship! I’m going to be working at Hart-to-Hart Farm Day Camp this summer taking care of the animals on the farm, but I’ll also be a day camp counselor. Plus, it’s in my home town of Albion, ME which means I won’t have to look for housing and I can spend the money I earn on things other than gas or rent. :) That makes me very happy! And it’s going to be a fantastic opportunity for me to give back to my community.

Back to today, I had a presentation and it went really well. I think I got a pretty good grade on it too since the teacher wanted me to present it at another function, but I said no since I have a lot of things that I need to get done before the end of the year and I really don’t want to have to think about presenting in front of a much larger audience than in class today. I’m not the best at public speaking, which is why I signed up to go 2nd to get it all done and over with. :)

Well, that’s all for today! Feel free to shoot some questions in my direction! Have a great week!

Thanks for tuning in!

Spring is in the air…

Ahhh spring is in the air!! We’ve had some rainy days, but today has been a day of just amazing sunshine with a light breeze over the campus… so relaxing and a wonderful day to just soak up the sun!

I had a really easy day today. I had one class this morning from 10-11 and then I had the rest of the day to myself! I love that I get to schedule my classes the way I want them!

Speaking on scheduling classes the way I want them, this past Monday I registered for my classes for the fall of 2009 semester.. and here’s what I signed up for:

Animal Training
Animal Health
Interpretive Methods
Introduction to Psychology for Teaching and Learning.

I’m pretty stoked about the classes, and three of them have labs attached so I’ll be pretty busy.

April 18th is Earth Day and there is going to be a lot of activities happening on campus that day!! Also, it’s the day of the New Student Orientation and I’m excited to meet all the accepted oncoming students for the fall!! If you’re there and wanna talk then I’ll be around in a yellow vest with a nametag on! Come find me! I won’t be hard to locate!

Have a happy Easter! I know I will!

57 Degrees Fahrenheit Today!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that spring in Maine has finally arrived. Almost all the snow has melted off the ground, the grass is starting to turn green, and the tulips and daffodils are sprouting from the ground! Plus it was rather warm today and I’m looking forward to the month of April!!

The only problem is that it makes being in a classroom all that much harder. Luckily, some of my professors have brought us outside for lab!

May 1 is the last day of classes… I’m counting down!! :) As much as I love Unity College, I’m ready for it to be summer time!

Thanks for tuning in! Throw some questions and comments my way!
